2018.06.22 – 2018.06.24 (3 days)
Day 1: Montreal to Oka National Park, through Vaudreuil-Dorion: 65km.
I had met this friend, Tihare, only about two months earlier. We both loved biking and loved camping, so we decided, why don’t we go on a bike-camping trip!? Little did we know it was the beginning of a beautiful long lasting friendship and that we would discover a mutual passion for this way of traveling.
In order to avoid going through the same road both ways, we took the longer route to get there, through Île-Perrot, then Vaudreuil-Dorion, and finally arriving at our Sépaq camp site.
Day 2: We stayed a 2nd night at the campground, enjoying the beach during the day.
We needed wood for the fire, Tihare provided.
Day 3: Oka National Park to Montreal: 44km. The first leg of this segment is really nice; a bike path through the forest, which is part of La route verte. Also it’s pretty flat, which makes a great first trip for beginners.
There we had it: 110km later, we had completely our first bike camping trip. We were hooked.
